Police looking for camera owner
DAVISON TWP. — The Davison Twp. Police have recovered a camera and would like to return it to the owner. If someone has recently lost a camera with photos on it from a cruise in early 2008 please contact the Davison Twp. Police Dept. at 810-653-5656. — G.G.

School board recognizes small business week
DAVISON — Members of the Davison Community School Board approved a resolution proclaiming Jan. 25-31 as “Small Business Ownership Week” at their meeting Jan. 5. Assistant Superintendent Eric Lieske said the week recognizes students involved in the DECA club, which is a national youth organization dedicated to enhancing the education of students with interest in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. — M.D.

School district receives contributions
DAVISON — At Monday’s meeting, Superintendent Clay Perkins recognized generous donations the district received last month.
He said clothing and shoes were donated by Gates Elementary Paraprofessional Tracey McDowell; a computer monitor to the technology department from Rodney Templeton; a variety of infant toys to the Cardinal’s Nest for use in the infant room from Toney and Cristin Mauro; and a computer and printer was donated to the technology department to be used as replacement parts throughout the district by Ed Ross.
Perkins expressed his gratitude and said the district will be sending out letters of thanks. — M.D.

Country Breakfast at American Legion
DAVISON — The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 267, will be having a Country breakfast on Jan. 18 at The American Legion Post 267, located at 10309 Davison Rd. The all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. until noon and is $6 for adults 12 years and up, $3 for children 4 to 11, and under 3 are free. Details: 810-653-2330. Wild Woodlands
DAVISON — Michigan United Conservation Clubs will be at the Davison Area Library from 12:30-1:15 p.m. Feb. 7 for a Wild Woodlands presentation for children.
The presentation will offer an assortment of live Michigan woodland mammals, birds of prey and reptiles to demonstrate the significant role forests play as a renewable resource and in maintaining biodiversity.

Adult computer classes
BURTON — Bentley High School business teacher and Mott Community College instructor Mark Mohre will hold adult education computer classes from 6-8 p.m. beginning Jan. 14 at the high school, 1150 N. Belsay Rd.
The seven-class session costs $40 and classes end on Feb. 25. Instruction will be given on Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the internet. A certificate of completion will be given at the end of the session. All learning materials will be provided.

GCRC director to address residents
DAVISON TWP. — John Daly, director of the Genesee County Road Commission, will be at the Davison Twp. Board of Trustees meeting Jan. 12 to answer resident concerns about snow plowing. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the township offices at 1280 N. Irish Rd. — G.G.

Texas Hold ‘Em
DAVISON — On Jan. 9, the Military Order of the Cooties Pup Tent 32 will hold a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at the Davison VFW Post 4087, 9474 Lapeer Rd.
The entry fee is $30 for $1,500 in chips and includes food, pop or coffee. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the tournament starts at 7 p.m. Registration can be done at the VFW Clubroom or by calling 810-658-9069.

Christmas tree disposal schedule
DAVISON — The Public Works Department will collect Christmas trees within the city limits Jan. 9. Trees to be collected should be unwrapped and placed curbside.
The city compost site also will be open Jan. 5-9 for Christmas tree drop-off from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The compost site will resume normal business hours in April. — N.B.
